Sturdy and well made Nov 04, 2009

As far as these a-frame guitar stands go, I can't see how you can get much better than this one, aside from maybe looking for one with hooks that sit higher from the ground. The frame is sturdy and collapsible, and it has thick foam rubber on the hooks, that will accommodate an electric or acoustic, though the size of the hooks are a bit more suited for an acoustic. An electric sits very low to the ground in these a-frame stands (and leans back quite a bit), and can hit the ground if you put down the guitar too forcefully, but they're much less likely to get knocked over than in a normal stand, and your cord won't get caught in it as easily.

I like this style of stand a great deal, but not this specific one. Adequate, IF you are sure it will not get bumped or under go any kind of stress. Completely unfit for any application which requires a robust stand or any kind if durability. The square tube steel is VERY thin and the welds will pull out in a heart beat. I would certainly not trust any heavy guitar (like a Les Paul)in this stand. Hinge is also flimsy. Your guitar is an expensive investment, spend the money on a more durable stand that you can trust. Mine lasted a week before the weld pulled a piece of the square tube steel away. It was holding a Yamaha RBX 170 bass.

This is just what we needed to have a safe place to put the new electric guitar.
I agree with other reviewers that it's better sized for an acoustic -- the hooks are wider than they need to be for an electric and yes, the electric is mighty close to the ground. The distance to the ground is the one thing I'd change here.
The major parts are hollow metal, so it's strong but lightweight. There are caps on the bottom piece, so it won't scratch our wood floors. The hook/holder parts have a foam padding to better protect the guitar as you're putting it down. And it folds in half, so you can better pack it up if you need to.
For less than ten dollars, I can't imagine finding anything better.

The Guardian Electric guitar stand actually holds my banjo, electric and acoustic guitars quite well. The electric guitar does not touch the floor while on this stand. The stand does not appear to be constructed to withstand professional use, but, for holding instruments at home where the stand is not moved around much, it's great. The stands did arrive with some rust on them (I guess the shipping container must have leaked on it's journey from China). I was able to wipe off the rust with a paper towel. I liked the stand so much, I bought two more. I like the low profile of the stand.

I was looking for a portable fold-up stand that I could take to gigs and searched around. Found the Guardian at Amazon and thought for $10, how could I go wrong. Wrong. The stand is sturdy and folds up nicely, but I found it next to impossible to get my Fender Jazz bass to stand up in it. The lack of an extended support for the neck meant you have to try to balance the guitar very precisely against the apex of the stand and pray that no one gets near it and that the wind doesn't blow. This might be OK for a lightweight acoustic that you didn't care too much about for for an electric guitar or bass, no way.
I just ordered a different one with a tripod base and a neck support. Live and learn.
