Great amp, has just what I need Oct 15, 2009
By Alan Bruce Mccornack With a jack to plug in my MP3 player, this amp is perfect for me to practice by playing along. This is not your wimpy fifteen watt amp, and being able to switch off the tweeter helps me concentrate on the bass line. There is no lack of punch in the 15 inch main driver. Everyone in the house can hear it, and I haven't turned it all the way up yet! Good 4-band equalizer, and inputs for active and passive pickups (plus XLR out) make for a very flexible setup. I couldn't find anything comparable at this price. I am very happy with this amp!

Incredible amp May 12, 2010
By Bryan Cordell Due to deteriorating vertebrae in my spine ,and recent back surgeries I had to sell my heavy equipment. I got to the point where I couldn't go play anywhere if my son wasn't home to load it, and I am not as young as I used to be. I played this amp in a music store ,actually is was the only one they had ,and a customer was about to leave with it. I have been playing for almost forty years ,and couldn't believe there was that much "horsepower" in a combo this lightweight. The ordering process went smoothly, and it was delivered in a timely fashion. Right out of the box this thing was ready to rumble. I have been procrastinating about installing some new pickups in my old P bass, but after I played through I ordered new pickups the same day. Let's be realistic you can't play Carnegie hall with it, but it holds it's own with some of the big boys. For the price, weight, and power this one is a no brainer. Gallien Krueger has definitely invented a better "mouse trap". They have knocked it out of the park with this amp.

It's all right, but, yeah, some flaws Oct 15, 2010
By Oliver Towne The big reason for buying this is obviously the weight. I am quite pleased to hoist the amp into the trunk of my car with no back strain. As far as loudness... Yes, it can handle smaller gigs and practice. Tone is all right, but I'm not really sold on the "GK growl" that the boost control provides. (This is a boost of even-order harmonics. Subtle at first, because it also boosts volume, but you will hear the tonal difference.) Not crazy about the contour mid-scoop feature, either. What I'd prefer is a deep bass boost at 40Hz. 60Hz is the bottom here, and that's not deep enough for me. The fundamental frequency of a bass guitar's low E is 41Hz.
Some of the flaws: The silver grill. Cheap looking color, and the mounting design makes it flex in or out. It's easy to dent. I took off the logo and painted mine black.
The direct-out problem mentioned in previous reviews. (Initially I said this could be easily fixed, but I take it back. Direct out plug is mounted on circuit board. Overlooked that when I had the amp head out first time. Whoops...)
Gallien-Krueger forgot about feet on all eight corners. I had to add a couple rubber ones from the hardware store so I could stack it sideways. What's the point of protective corners if you leave off two at the upper back? The thing will wobble when placed on its side. Duh.
The control panel will get dusty facing up. But if you use the jacks a lot, dirt shouldn't build up too much on the connections.
In short: Sounds okay, is truly light, has some dubious design features.

mb 115 review- FLAWS Sep 22, 2010
By apps I purchased this amp for general gigging. I love the tone. Got it for a great price. I really like the amp. 3 major flaws
1) Weight- Its great not killing yourself carrying the rig but the 35lbs has proven to be a bad thing . The amp is so light that when boosting the gains and boost the amp dances around. really difficult to mic if you have nothing to put on top of the amp. Having to carry a sandbag or case defeats the purpose of the "light" amp.
2) the direct output should be turned the other way. The cable clip is very hard to get out because of the way it faces.
3) Direct out - this could just be a lemon but my direct output is crunchy. Very much a pain in the ass if you can't even mic the amp do to it moving.
i am sending it back and hopefully the next will not have this problem
Overall I love the amp but these flaws are driving me to get a different product

Great amp one slight reservation Nov 10, 2009

"CVT"
I love this amp it's not expensive has tons of volume etc etc. Played about 4 gigs with it so far and the only prob I have is the fact that sometimes the low lows can totally wash over the rhythm guitar player. >_< A slight annoyance that mainly comes from the fact that it uses a 15" sub. (15's pretty much can do lows and not so much in the higher range so everything has a lot of... well bass) If you have an extra 100 or 200$ I would recommend getting the model with 2 10"s or better yet the one up from that with 2 12"s. Given the wattage and sub size on the other models the dynamic range is a lot better. If you're not trying to go all out get this one you won't be disappointed.
