5Better than factory strings  Aug 29, 2009 By Paul Berry "Techno Geek"
I put a set of these on a cheap Chinese bass. Wow, what a difference over the factory strings! These are great! The same Ernie Ball quality I expected after using Super Slinky guitar strings for over 30 years. These Rock! Made in USA too!!!

5Excellent Product  Nov 23, 2005 By R. Frawley
These strings add a wonderfully bright tone to any bass, both cheap and expensive. They can do wonders for the tone and clarety of one's bass.

Also, these strings feel great compared to competetors; they allow for easier bending and sliding.

Recommended.

4Excellent strings for your bass  Jul 12, 2010 By EmanM3
I really like the way these Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings sound and feel. The only negative is that they don't hold their tone very long. I found that I needed to replace them after a few months.

1New Ernie Balls strings sound like DR hi-beams dead  Jan 12, 2011 By A. Platts "I eat jazz"
I'm a fan of meaty and complex bass tone, in the way of Chris Squire, Pete Townshend, and others.

After discovering DR hi-beams DR Strings Hi-Beam - Stainless Steel Round Core 45-105 as a teenager, I have been super loyal to them ever since.
My last set I put on while recording an album this past summer, and they finally died after 6+ months of rehearsals and gigs, so I decided, since these Ernie Ball Super Slinkys were cheaper, I'd try them out.

Not only are they less "slinky" feeling than the DRs (which are actually a thicker set of strings), but they sound totally dead from the start. There's no punchy mids, just the trebley high end that you always get with new strings, and the same fat bottom that my DR hi-beams had when I thought they were "dead."

I have to say, Ernie Ball Super Slinkys are cheaper than DRs-- for a reason.

They list on the back a bunch of heavy metal bands that have boring bassists with no complexity to their tone. Now, if you want to sound like them, this is the string to use.

2Die very quickly.  Jan 21, 2012 By Scoot
These strings die after about a week of use. In the week they sound half decent, but they are not worth the money. There are much better strings out there.
