Nice strings for a beginner Jan 10, 2011
By Clark Pinyan
"Clark Loves Jazz"
I am an experienced musician, but new to bass playing. I got these strings to replace the stock strings on my new bass and I really like them. For a beginner, the light strings are faster, easier to mute, cause less buzzing, don't require as much pressure from the ring and pinky fingers, and are less noisy in general. They are more forgiving when I'm not quite on the fret as well. The sound is bright and responsive, and more guitar-like, though you do lose some warmth or depth compared to heavier strings.

The Best Strings... Jan 07, 2011
By Uncle Meat Simply put, these are the best strings at the lowest price. I've been playing electric bass for over 35 years and these are the brand I always come back to. I've tried Dr. Bass, Rotosounds, Fender, Markleys, etc. with no noticeable difference or improvement. D'Addarios sound great and last a long time. You can usually find them in multi-packs and/or on sale so it doesn't hurt to change them more often. This is one example where use don't get what you pay for, your get more! They come in many different lengths and gauges, so make sure you buy the correct set for your instrument. If you select a different gauge, don't forget that you may have to make adjustments to the intonation, string height, and/or neck relief on your bass or guitar.

Best Bang for the Buck! Feb 12, 2012
By Ryan How can these be selling for $11.50 and free shipping? I've used quite a few brands, and most sets of roundwounds are $20.00+. Okay, so the price is great, but the sound on these is equally good. Nice punchy high end, big wide low end. They don't die fast, I've never had a dud string or set and they play very nicely. Basically these strings will give you best value to quality ratio you can find. Period. Buy a set. Buy two. At this price, buy ten if you go through a lot of sets.
I'm gonna keep using these. They suit my needs at a very cool price. 5 stars.

Lower Tension Less Cramps Nov 06, 2011
By Scott A I really like the lower tension of these strings. Allowed me to set the action lower and the neck on my bass is more flat looking(less curved). Most importantly, the finger and fore arm cramps have been reduced at least 80%. Use to play medium heavy strings. I have not noticed a huge difference in the sound and can still play dropped down a half step on all strings and even a whole step on the E(C#). Maybe slightly not as deep sounding, but can be eq'd to go deeper. Put them on a G&L SB2. Putting a set on my P-Bass next.

OMG SOUNDS GREAT!!! Aug 18, 2010 Now I'm not a guitar guy, I'm a drummer, but as a beginner in the bass guitar we got a yahmaha bass and we never changed the strings for about 2 years and my goodness when we used this string set on it, I was thrilled, the sound was bright and sweet, It made me start to grow to liking the bass guitar more, I'm gonna quit drums for the hour and go with the bass (^_^) God Bless!!!
