Brilliant! Just like Uni Vibe for MUCH less Jan 01, 2010
By Thomas J. Knight Does exactly what you would expect. Nice warm, smooth tone. Sounds more like a $200 boutique pedal. Its analog circuitry really gives it a true vintage feel. Ive played the Dunlop Uni-Vibe, and the VooDoo Labs MicroVibe, and this pedal is as good, if not better than both its pricier cousins. The indicator light is actually much more useful (and pretty) than i thought it would be. I can say with complete confidence i have never gotten a better bang for my buck with any pedal (and i own many pedals!)...70 bucks!?!? What a steal!

Basic Rotary Univibe Jan 07, 2009
By Brian Pan Sample Built solid. Comes with an adapter and battery. Simple controls. Internal tone pot set at factory, and actually is just fine. You can dial in some nice SRV sounds ala little wing, or something less rotary shifting into hendrix territory. Trower and Floyd settings, that ain't too shabby. You can set it for a nice subtle shimmer, which I use when shifting into a chorus, to just add something different from the verse. Or you can get Leslie effect. It's got 2 stages, which is sort of like an old MXR phase 45. It's far creamier than the current MXR 90, which is a 4 stage phaser, which has, to me, an unwelcome aggressive distortion.
Overall, if you're looking for a univibe, phase or rotary effect that's extremely portable (don't expect it be like a rack unit or a stand alone leslie) and accept it for what it is, you won't be disappointed.
My current rig Telecaster > planet waves chromatic tuner > boss AW-3 > mxr super comp > bbe green screamer > proco you dirty rat > bbe soul vibe > boss dd-3 > combo with reverb

Best bang for a decent univibe pedal Jan 23, 2009
By Carver
"Gadget guy"
I've been looking for a decent univibe for a while now. The problem is that some of them are very expensive for an effect that you may use on occasion. The Soul Vibe is very simple and has a very warm univibe effect. Very Trower/Hendrix like. Through Amazon you can get these for around $100 and that's the best deal you'll get on a quality univibe. Despite the goofy graphics the pedal is well built and has true bypass. This is my first BBE pedal but after getting this one I'd get another one in a second. I've got my eyes set on the two timer analog delay. Based on my experience with the Soul Vibe and everything else I've heard, BBE pedals really seem to be really quality peices for not a lot of money.

Sweet!!!! Jul 26, 2010
By jetdoc For me it was a toss up between the Danelectro Cool Cat Vibe and the BBE Soul Vibe. The Cool Cat was a good sounding pedal but it had 2 discrepancies I did not care for: one was the audible kick it gave in volume when you engage it and the other was the half second delay it had between engaging the effect switch and the time the effect actually kicked in. This was unacceptable! I've seen cheapo effects that cost a lot less and they don't do this!!
As for the Soul Vibe, I love it! It was exactly what I was looking for. It produces a beautiful swirling vibrato effect reminiscent of the vibrato effects from the late 60's and early 70's. You can easily get the Pink Floyd or Robin Trower like tones out of it. Running a compression effect behind this one greatly enhances the effect. As for tone loss, IMO there was an extremely negligible amount of tone loss as well as a faint swishing sound. Then again you have to remember boys and girls-this is an all analog effect! If you don't want tone loss then go digital but in my opinion the sound quality is not as good.
On the downside I have a few very minor gripes about this pedal but not enough to tarnish its review standing: One was the internal trim pot. In my opinion it would have been better if they would have just incorporated this feature as an external pot. Adjusting it is a rather cumbersome affair but I'm not complaining just pointing this out. The other beef I have is the screws on mine that install the battery cover were torqued down entirely way too tight!! After almost striping one out I had to place the top of the corner of the box against a block of wood and use a #1 Phillips screwdriver and a lot of pressure just to remove them (don't use a #2 Phillips; I guarantee you will strip the screw head out!). Fortunately, I was able to slowly back the 4 screws out to get access to the inside. There is absolutely no need whatsoever for these screws to be installed this tight!
All in all, I'm sure some of those insanely priced $200-$400 vibrato pedals can give you more bells and whistles to tinker around with. Personally, I think a lot of these "boutique" style effects are one of the biggest rackets going and anyone who spends over $200 for an effect like this needs to go have their heads examined...but then again, to each their own! Aside from those meager 2 gripes I'll say this is a great effect and well worth the money.

Great pedal Feb 25, 2011
By David W. Dicke Very solid product and does what it is supposed to do. You can get Leslie sounds to classic Hendrix/Gilmour sounds. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a uni-vibe pedal. Also got it on sale through Amazon. Great deal!
